Donetsk Institute for Social Research and Policy Analysis conducts a roundtable on «Migratory potential of Ukraine in the context of the Schengen visa policy.»

6 October, 6 from13.00 p.m. DISRPA will present the results of a nationwide research of migration attitudes of Ukrainian people and the outcomes presentation of the research of the EU visa policy (the fifth wave of monitoring) by the Consulates of Czech Republic and Greece in the Donetsk region.

Ukraine is the source of migration. Although this process has a global dimension, the migration from Ukraine shows its own peculiarities. The outcomes presentation of the research of the EU visa policy (the fifth wave of monitoring) in Ukraine in the context of the visa policy of the European Union was examined. The aggregate data on state and regional dimension of migration potential was retrieved.

 

Topics for a discussion:

- Do Ukrainian citizens intend to go abroad? What is the potential share of migrants to work in Europe or Russia?

- What factors "push" people abroad?

- What prevents freedom of movement around the world for Ukrainian citizens? Will the possible removing of visa barriers affect the visit purposes of our citizens for the short trips to Europe and the Schengen states?

- What changes are recorded in visa issuing practice by consular offices of Czech Republic and Greece in the Donetsk region

 

The discussion will be moderated by Volodymyr Kipen, the Head of DISRPA.

 

The General Consul of Czech Republic in Donetsk Mr. Ondrej Moravec, The General Consul of Germany Mr. Klaus Zillikens and the General Consul of Greece in Mariupol Mr. Dimitris Papandreou will participate in the event.
